Why a blog?

Welcome fellow planners!

A couple of the gals recommended blogging as a good way to stay connected throughout the trip planning process. This way we will all be able to contribute tips and planning suggestions for everyone else to view and comment on. I have listed everyone who is serious about this trip as a contributer. Should you decide not to come, I will remove you from this list.

Three other things that were brought to my attention:

1) It will actually take 2 days of driving to get to Skagway, not one as previously thought. Many people have expressed a desire to fly instead of drive. If you would like to fly, you are responsible for making your own travel arrangements. Some of us are still planning on driving. This is not something that needs to be decided immediately, but it should be decided by the time we make our reservations and get our permits in January.

2) I am trained in CPR and First Aid, but we should have at least another two people as back up, in case something happens to me. If you feel like you'd be pretty good under pressure, or if you want to review your skills, consider getting your certification. First Aid certification is good for 3 years and CPR for 1 year. The Red Cross offers these classes and there are other venues around town which offer these two courses as well as one specifically in Wilderness First Aid.

3) Make sure you have a recent passport. Passports can take up to 3 months to get unless they are expedited.

Happy planning!
